Professional Liability Insurance and the Technical Requirements Schedule

The Technical Requirements Schedule has been updated effective April 1, 2026, and remains an integral part of an architectural practice’s Professional Liability Insurance Policy since it was first introduced in 2024. Our policy, much like many professional liability insurance policies, excludes water ingress coverage; however, Pro-Demnity will extend water ingress coverage when architects, designers and project teams have chosen to design in compliance with the Technical Requirements Schedule. The update as of April 1, 2026 reflects the addition of Insulated Metal Panel Exterior Wall Systems (IMP Systems) as a new Part D. No other changes were made.

The Technical Requirements Schedule provides guidance with respect to:
– Exterior Above Grade Wall Systems (Part A);
– Architectural Precast Concrete Exterior Wall Assemblies (or Precast Systems) (Part B);
– Window Wall Systems (Part C), and;
– Insulated Metal Panel Exterior Wall Systems (IMP Systems) (Part D, introduced as of April 1, 2026).

The Technical Requirements Schedule is presented as a standalone document, making it is easier for architects, design or project teams to download and reference, and assist the architectural practice in managing risks, and securing water ingress coverage. It is updated as needed to reflect best practices and should be referred to on a regular basis.

Some coverage for water ingress from Pro-Demnity did exist prior to 2024 within previous policy wordings, such as for Exterior Above Grade Wall Systems and Window Wall Systems, as early as the 2010s. Over the years, Pro-Demnity has made further strides to expand water ingress coverage available to architectural practices such as the introduction of Precast Systems in 2024 and IMP Systems in 2026.

  • Materials manufacturers or suppliers may make claims that their product complies with our Technical Requirements Schedule. Pro-Demnity does not endorse any product or service. Architects are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence when such claims are made.
  • Architects may refer to their policy issued upon renewal, as Pro-Demnity no longer publishes our professional liability insurance policy on this website.
