Lead Director
Barbara Haynes was Founding President and CEO of DAS Canada, part of the Munich Re Group, from 2009 to 2018. She led the licensing, and set up of the new insurance company, developed the strategy, built the team, processes and corporate governance and risk framework. The company became the fastest growing start up within the DAS Group, and was recognized in 2016 and 2018 as one of Canada’s Best Workplaces.
Prior to her role at DAS, she held executive positions with leading Canadian insurance brokers, driving growth and profitability through organic growth, acquisitions, and consolidation of markets. Previously, she was with Zurich Canada, CIBC, and Sun Alliance, where she led growth, reorganization of sales, underwriting and operations management, and the set up of new divisions.
Barbara is a Fellow, Chartered Insurance Professional, holds the designation of Canadian Risk Management, and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. She was a Director of DAS Canada, RIAD (International Association of Legal Protection Insurers), and Chair, National Sponsorships, Women In Insurance Cancer Crusade, where she was the recipient of the Lew Dunn Award for volunteerism in 2017.
In addition to serving on the Pro-Demnity Board, she currently serves as a Director of Homes First Foundation.
