Based in Ottawa ON, Lara has been a practicing architect for over 25 years. Before starting her eponymous practice in 2011, she worked for 16 years at several well established Ottawa firms.
Lara McKendrick Architecture’s practice specialization is in the adaptive reuse of buildings and sites with a focus on community, sport and healthcare. Preferring a collaborative approach, she takes a first principles approach to sustainability creating spaces and places that are healthy, flexible, durable, resilient and beautiful. Lara also provides residential design services, both new build and renovation, to various private clients.
Lara is a graduate of Carleton University’s School of Architecture and holds licenses to practice in Ontario and Alberta. She is currently serving on OAA Council as one of the two Eastern Ontario representatives.
Lara’s other volunteer and leisure pursuits generally involve the outdoors; she volunteered for 10 years with the Canadian Ski Patrol and is an avid outdoor sport enthusiast. Living in both Ottawa Ontario and Canmore Alberta she and her partner Ben get outside to bike, ski, run or hike as often as possible.
